(There are cameras that shoot at tens of thousands of frames per seconds, but they cost tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.) My next idea was to shine a laser at the blades and detect the flashing reflection with a photodetector.
Blender point to point measure how to#
My first thought was to use a high-speed camera, but unfortunately I couldn’t figure out how to affordably get access to a fast enough camera. You can read about the results in my companion Vitamix speed measurements post.

The first method is a bit more involved, so if you get bogged down in it, you can skip ahead to the second method, which is easy if you have access to a laptop computer.

On this page I will describe how to measure blender blade speeds at home with two simple methods. Or Press Escape to discard them (without discarding Rulers / Protractors that were previously saved). Press Enter to save them for later use of the Ruler/Protractor mode,

* If a one or more measuring Rulers already exist, Ctrl must be held anyway to create a new Ruler. * Hold Ctrl while creating the Ruler to snap its start and end points to 3D elements.

LMB Click & Drag the 3D Viewport to create a measuring Ruler.Press Ruler/Protractor to activate Ruler/Protractor mode. To create and edit measurement Rulers & Protractors:
